Although it looks good, it would NOT work for ikea. They are all about shipping things out in boxes shipped tight; this bed can't be several small pieces. Expensive custom furniture, maybe. IKEA, no. I knew something was going on, at first i though it was the Livework project playing unfairly. Well the LG computer tech group, knows where the votes are coming from, it a marketing tool every website uses to find out demographics and find their market. If this was not the case, im very sorry. This is not my pick, but it does look a little snazzy, other than the frame i do not see anything that emphasis a creative project from the concept to product.

Sure they have platform beds, but none that have the nice curves, light feeling, and material used in Korry's design. Great idea... I think toddlers would have a lot of fun with this bed. The design is very functional and could appeal to youth, teens and adults. The storage space is a plus. The slim, sleek look is great for kids rooms, dorms, lofts, and apartments. Seems to be easy to transport and move from room to room because of the airyness and light look of the project. It looks comfortable and great for bedrooms, dorms, etc. because of the size. The sleek design is very innovative. I think it's a winner.

Great work Korry. I like how you weren't afraid to use support materials, where needed, instead of making something structurally unrealistic completely out of Hi Mac. That's the sort of pragmatism that separates sophomoric and mature design. It's a shame that you've got someone spending so much time/energy in your comments to post the same rehashed spam under so many different fake names (Steve Jobs, IKEA, Obama, Spencer). At least their spelling is as consistently bad as their complaints, so they're easy to spot.

The contour of the bed looks impressive as well as the design of the material, which seems to be highlight of this project. The look is very modern, fitting of today's contemporary society. yeah so how is this different from most 'modern' type beds, like even cheap ones i can get @ ikea? i see no evidence of suspension, and can store stuff under just about any bed. also, if they have to fabricate this at a factory how will i get it home like my ikea bed, in the trunk of say a civic (unless it comes disassembled with a tube of superglue)? to be fair though, you did make a well proportioned and sexy bed frame.

This is pretty slick, love the form, like the way you realistically incorporated the "balance" theme, and nice touch on adding the exploded view so we can see how it all works. Shows that you put a lot of thought into this design. I would love to have something like this for my bedroom. My only critique is that I would like to have seen it with bed linens on. The form is so nice and balanced, but will it work with sheets and a comforter?? Maybe you could incorporate somewhere for the sheets/cover to fall so that the seemless edges of the product stay in tact. Just a thought for your next go-round (if you have already considered this then just ignore me). Anyways, nice job Korry, go NC State!

This is more like it. It's the first entrant I have seen yet that has even a basic understanding of manufacturing and materials. A few small areas could use some reinforcement, but this is just nit-picking(I think that is the first time I have ever typed that), and can be resolved without significantly altering the design.

This is a great modern interpretation of a classic headboard/footboard bed. Clean lines and surfaces recreate familiar and inviting shapes, but in a distinctly new way that plays with the notion of balance and sleeping on air. This design is very appropriate for the application since the LG Hi-Mac material is a utilization of new technology to a centuries-old product. Great work!

I think this is a great idea, especially for tiny college dorm rooms. The storage underneath allows for more space in the room. And I LOVE the tray table that slides out, it can be used to keep a drink by the bed or even your cell phone while it charges. Plus it looks like it would be very comfortable! This is a very marketable design!
