trash_muncher is a simple and whimsical design solution to the serious issue of recycling. this character aims to make recycling fun and appealing by balancing functionality and commercial design. it promotes the re-use of the common plastic bags which are normally discarded after its initial use. it also takes advantage
to the anti-microbial property that lg hi-macs spectrum has, making
it sanitary safe for everybody to use. its playful design is
also geared for children inorder to instill them the
importace of recycling.
trash_muncher’s goal is to restore balance in nature one munch at a time!

Well you did make me smile... :D I am a sucker for anything cute. My question is, is this intended for public use or use at home, or both? I see it out in a field so I'm assuming it can be for public use, in which case its going to need to have a larger capacity than just a plastic bag (I tried using them for recycling at home, fill them up in a day). I appreciate how you put these inside and outside in your slides, but I would like to see them more in context (are they at the park, on the city street, in a classroom, at home, etc). What is a day in the life of this product like? Who puts on the new bags? Who takes the old ones away? What do you do with those bags after you empty them out? Did you consider reusable bag options that are also easy to carry to the recycling center or outdoors to the recycling bin? All these questions relate back to the who and where of the product. On an unrelated note, I also think it would be fun to have a few in a row or back to back, like munchin' buddies... plastic, paper, glass, etc. Maybe you could design a way for them to lock together as a set and they could be modular? I have always wanted something better. I re-use these bags all of the time but they just don't seem to fit just right in standard trash cans. This is a clever solution! Jan 25 2009 | 06:46 pm
