Just as a virus does not claim one victim, Facet is not one single product. It is a corruption that can manifest in any straight-laced, morally sound material craving to get in touch with its dark side. Facet is the dissolution of uniformity, the release of primal instincts, a catalyst for the unpredictable actions of the id. On one side, there is the familiar, civilized plane of purity. One the other, a descension into the geometric unknown. Facet is a balance between order and chaos. Half stable, half maniacal, and wholly unique.

Facet takes after a new wave of orthodox-shifting products that draw their inspiration from the faceted geometric structures found in arctic glacial bodies and crystalline growth formations. Facet can create visually intriguing spaces in dining and lounge environments, but is not limited to these applications. Although Facet is physically static, people's curiosity and desire to touch and feel the spines and vertexes of the material make it surprisingly inviting and interactive. Expressed in the accompanying images as modular wall panels and a bar surface, Facet exudes allure and excitement while remaining sterile and unobstrusive.

Facet is formed by thermally molding a sheet of LG HI-MACS surface material over a rigid, preformed structure comprised of individually shaped wood panels, arranged and fixed in a random geometric configuration. Using a single universal wood mold, countless configurations of Facet can be achieved by placing HI-MACS sheets at different angles and positions on the mold, each one receiving a unique faceted impression.

I just keep looking at your project... I really do like it. So dynamic in the way that it almost seems that some force is crinkling the material. Its solid, yet britle. I dont know I just like it. I kind of want to see it in real life with fog coming from behind all the panels.

this is a really fantastic idea, Patrick. i love the facets on the wall. it's very eye-catching and its asymmetry makes it even more interesting.

Holy crap, Patrick. This is the total package. We should just make a bunch of these and mount them in the studio. Oh, and just think of the funky acoustics these things would cause! Imagine rigging them up so that they aimed sound to one particular spot in a room. You could eavesdrop on conversations and stuff.

"descension into the geometric unknown" love it. I really like how you've developed a manufacturing approach too. As the centerpiece of a hot hang out, I can see the fashionable facet - and the material it's made of - drawing a lot of attention. The glacial influence adds a special touch of relation to the present and future. It's hot!
